New co-chairs at Cool Kids

Cool Kids challenging Dan Jansen to compete in paper plate speedskating

Jan. 12. Cool Kids Campaign, a non-profit organization devoted to improving the quality of life for pediatric oncology patients and their families, has new co-chairs.

Tiffany and Jon D. Kalupa will head up the local chapter which runs the Cool Kids Clubhouse in Huntersville. It hosts fun activities and events for cancer patients and their siblings. The Cool Kids Care Condo in Charlotte houses families during their child’s cancer treatment and the Myrtle Beach Condo provides family beach vacations.

Olympic speed skating champ Dan Jansen is also a board member.

“After years of volunteering at Cool Kids events, we have witnessed how this group’s support impacts pediatric cancer patients and their families,” said Jon D. Kalupa. In 2013 the Kalupa’s two-year-old goddaughter was diagnosed with leukemia.

“We saw first-hand the incredible challenges endured by the patient and families throughout treatment,” said Tiffany Kalupa.
