NCDHHS coronavirus data for Jan. 29

Jan. 29. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services reported 6,959 new cases of the coronavirus today, as well as 111 new deaths due to COVID-19. Locally, mass vaccination events are under way at the Cabarrus Arena in Concord and at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte. Both events are fully booked.

Hospitalizations

The NCDHHS reported 3,048 people hospitalized statewide today, the third day that hospitalizations declined.

Deaths

There have been a total of 9,157 deaths statewide according to today’s NCDHHS report. In Mecklenburg, there were three new deaths, two of them in Huntersville.

Testing

The statewide positive test rate is at 8.7 percent; 11.5 percent in Mecklenburg.

Mecklenburg

In Mecklenburg County, the NCDHHS reported 546 new cases, down from 628 new cases yesterday. There have been 747 deaths countywide due to the coronavirus.

North Mecklenburg

Cornelius: 19 new cases, 2,183 cumulative; 21 deaths total.

Davidson: 12 new cases, 1,177 cumulative; 12 deaths total.

Huntersville: 43 new cases, 4,467 cumulative; 40 deaths total.
