NC mobile sports betting goes live March 11

Jan. 25. State gambling regulators have set the start date for online sports betting just prior to the Atlantic Coast Conference men’s basketball tournament in March—noon on March 11 to be exact.

Sports betting can commence on mobile devices and computers one day before the ACC Tournament begins, but long after the Super Bowl.

Anyone 21 or older can make bets on pro, college or Olympic-style sports, but not horse racing—at least not yet..

Under Sports Wagering Authorization approved Wednesday, licensed interactive sports wagering operators who hold Certificates of Compliance can begin registering players, creating interactive accounts and accepting deposits at noon on Friday, March 1.
.
The NC State Lottery Commission maintains a list of licensed interactive sports wagering operators on its
website. Go to https://ncgaming.gov/ to view the list of licensed operators eligible to offer bets, the names of their platforms, and links to their websites.

Wagering on horse races is not yet authorized nor does the new authorization address pari-mutuel wagering or advance deposit account wagering, each of which facilitates wagering on live, in-person horse races and simulcast horse races. The Commission is expected to provide additional information about horse race wagering in the future.
