NC COVID hospitalizations fall; positive test rate less than 4% statewide

March 11. With more than 1.1 million second doses having been administered so far, the NC Dept. of Health & Human Services today reported 1,039 hospitalizations due to COVID-19.

That’s down from 1,075 statewide yesterday and down from 3,843 precisely two months ago when pandemic-related hospitalizations were peaking in North Carolina.

The statewide positive test rates dipped to 3.8 percent. In Mecklenburg is was again under the goal of 5 percent, at 4.8 percent in today’s report

Case count

There were 2,061 new cases reported today by the NCDHHS, for a total of 879,825 since the outbreak began a year ago.

Deaths

There were 27 new deaths statewide attributable to the coronavirus.

Mecklenburg

In Mecklenburg County, the NCDHHS reported 156 new cases and no new deaths. There have been a total of 887 coronavirus deaths county-wide over the past year.

North Mecklenburg

Cornelius: 4 new cases, 2,568 cumulative; 23 deaths total.

Davidson: 1 new cases, 1,449 cumulative; 15 deaths total.

Huntersville: 9 new cases, 5,217 cumulative; 47 deaths total.
