NBC/Marist poll says 58% approve of job Cooper’s doing

NC Gov. Roy Cooper

July 29. NC Gov. Roy Cooper leads Dan Forest by 20 points in a new NBC News/Marist poll, with 58 percent of registered voters approving of the job he is doing.

Thirty-four percent disapprove. The NC- focused poll was conducted July 14-22, before the president announced he was cancelling the Republic National Convention in Jacksonville, Fla. because of logistical and safety concerns.

Among adults, 61 percent to 32 percent said that Cooper was right to balk at the Trump administration’s Charlotte convention plans over concerns about coronavirus safety protocols.

Democratic Senate candidate Cal Cunningham leads GOP Sen. Thom Tillis by 9 points, with the backing of 50 percent of voters, compared to Tillis’ 41 percent.
