May 18. By Dave Vieser. If boating on Lake Norman is a sign of normalcy, then Sunday was a little more like it. Boaters were out, parading (almost) up and down coves in Cornelius. No less than eight boats were spotted at Port City Club around lunchtime Sunday.
Temperatures were in the 80s.
The lake has united people from all around the lake, offering an opportunity to socialize while our area is still under the state’s Phase One restrictions. On Sunday, our reporter met people from Denver, Lincolnton, Mooresville, Huntersville and, of course, Cornelius.
Boaters and their passengers seem to be practicing good separation and distance even as they were docked close by. Law enforcement is also keeping a close eye on lake activity just to be sure everyone plays it safe.
