National Night Out Tuesday at Bailey Road Park, plus a movie

National Night Out last year

Bailey Road Park is the site of the Cornelius observances of National Night Out, a free event Tuesday evening that brings police officers together with the public.

Hosted by the Cornelius Police and the PARC Dept., the event runs from 6 pm to 8 pm. There’s no cost to attend and there is free food as well. There will be a Dunkin Donuts Dunk-a-Cop tank, an inflatable slide sponsored by Truliant Federal Credit Union, a bounce house sponsored by Elevation Church, Home Depot Kids Workshop, a soccer camp hosted by Carolina Rapids, face painting and entertainment by singer Rockie Lynne.

Also planned to be on site are Cornelius Police vehicles, a Cornelius Fire Department truck and a patrol car to pack with school supplies. Items collected for “Pack the Patrol Car” will be distributed to students at Cornelius Elementary, J.V. Washam Elementary, Bailey Middle and W.A Hough High School. Recommended supplies include paper, pencils, pens, highlighters, notebooks, binders, index cards, tissues, crayons, markers, colored pencils and backpacks.

Following National Night Out, the PARC Dept. will present “Justice League” starting at about 8:30 pm.
