The North Mecklenburg Rotary Club’s annual pancake breakfast has been renamed and it’s got a new date, Saturday, Feb. 21. The inaugural “Sam Wilson Memorial Pancake Breakfast” runs from 7 am to 11:30 a.m. at Bethel Presbyterian Church, 19913 Bethel Church Road. Long-time member Sam Wilson passed away in 2014 and was always a bedrock of the Pancake Breakfast since the club’s founding in the late 1980s. The pancake breakfast is one of the area’s top fundraisers. The price of $10 a plate (kids 5 and under are free) includes pancakes, sausage, juice, coffee and/or milk.
The club meets each Wednesday for lunch at The Peninsula Club. Among other organizations, the club supports the Solomon House, the Bin, the local Red Cross, United Family Services, Ada Jenkins, Big Day at the Lake, Lake Norman YMCA, Angels and Sparrows, Rotary Park at the Veterans Memorial in Cornelius and the Cornelius Elementary Summer Enrichment Program.
