March 16. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services today reported 1,093 new cases of COVID-19 today, down from a median of 4,899 daily new cases from Jan. 17 to Feb. 16.

Hospitalizations

Hospitalizations were at 1,021 statewide, down from 1,958 exactly one month ago.

Deaths

There were 13 new deaths statewide attributable to the coronavirus, for a total of 11,722 since the outbreak began one year ago.

Testing

The statewide positive test rate rose to 6.7 percent in today’s report, from a little over 5 percent during the past couple of days. The positive test rate in Mecklenburg remained at 4.4 percent for a third day, with the goal being under 5 percent.

Mecklenburg

In Mecklenburg County, the NCDHHS reported 138 new cases and no new deaths.

North Mecklenburg

Cornelius: 2 new cases, 2,583 cumulative; 23 deaths total.

Davidson: 1 new cases, 1,465 cumulative; 15 deaths total.

Huntersville: 9 new cases, 5,282 cumulative; 47 deaths total.
