Man Charged After Alleged Peeping Incident

A Cornelius man was arrested Saturday after police said he was allegedly standing outside a residence window while committing a sexual act in the presence of a minor.

Officers responded at about 1:12 p.m. Aug. 29 to the 19000 block of Feriba Place in downtown Cornelius after receiving a report of a peeping incident, according to the Cornelius Police Department.

Following an investigation, officers arrested Andrew Mark Bruce and charged him with felony indecent exposure in the presence of a minor, police said.

Bruce was taken to the Mecklenburg County Detention Center and later given a $15,000 secured bond.

Police released information about the incident because of the nature of the alleged offense and the potential for similar incidents, the department said.

“The Cornelius Police Department is sharing this information to keep residents informed and encourage members of the community to remain aware of their surroundings and report suspicious or concerning activity to law enforcement,” read a statement issue by the department.
