LKN fall cleanup Saturday Oct. 3

Aug. 27.  Ramsey Creek Park in Cornelius is one of at least three dozen sites around the Catawba basin that will be part of the Catawba Riversweep/Lake Norman Fall Cleanup  Saturday, Oct. 3.

• Register at https://catawbariversweep.org/  The first 1,000 people to register before Sept. 18 will get a free t-shirt.

• Bring a mask, gloves, and a litter pickup tool if you have one.

• The event will be the first Saturday in October—not the second Saturday as in years past.

• Boats will depart Beatty’s Ford Park boat access at 9 a.m., not 8 am,  as in the past.

• Boat captains are being asked to bring their own crew.  Boat captains are responsible for anyone they accept on their boat.

• Volunteers who prefer to stay on land and Boy Scout and Girl Scout troops are encouraged to participate by cleaning up Beatty’s Ford Park, Little Creek boat access, Rock Springs Nature Preserve and Sally’s Y.

The date was changed at the request of the Catawba Riverkeeper Foundation (CRF) which is organizing a large cleanup of the Catawba River, lakes, and streams in a one-day event at 40 sites across the basin. Click here for Lake Norman info.
