
Light Up Cornelius brings thousands of people to Catawba Avenue downtown
Nov. 25. The annual Light Up Cornelius is scheduled for this Saturday from 4–7 p.m. in downtown Cornelius.
Attendees will be treated to a sledding hill, train rides, craft and artisan vendors, local performers, a model train display, s’mores, and the penultimate tree lighting and visit from Santa and Mrs. Claus. Life Fellowship Church will be caroling throughout the evening.
Concessions will be provided by Sandwich Express, GGC Smokehouse, Third Eye Coffee, A Couple of Nuts NC, and Donut I Love You.
Schedule of Events
4 p.m. — Event begins
4:15 p.m. — North Carolina Youth Orchestra
4:20 p.m. — Santa and Mrs. Claus arrive
5 p.m. — North Mecklenburg Community Chorus
5:45 p.m. — Lake Norman Orchestra Jazz Ensemble
6:30 p.m. — Tree lighting ceremony
7 p.m. — Event ends
A map of public parking is available on the parks department website. Parking is not permitted in lots where businesses are in operation, such as Food Lion, Harris Teeter, and Walgreens.
Catawba Avenue will be closed from 1–8:30 p.m. for the event.
