Life of Pie: Sisters open first Buttermilk Sky franchise in Birkdale Village

March 8. Just in time for Pi Day March 14, Buttermilk Sky Pie Shop is opening its first North Carolina location, this one in Birkdale Village between J. Jill and Uniquities. The brand, which has 17 storefronts throughout the southeast, has pie flavors like Key Lime, Southern Custard, Granny’s Apple, Chewy Chocolate Chip and Peanut Butter Cream.

The franchise is owned and operated by Savannah Lape and Gabby Sillyman, two sisters with a vision to bring sweets to the sweet.

On Friday, Bubbles & Brews will stop by between 5 and 9 pm. offering free drink tickets with a purchase of a four pie stack or nine-inch pie. On Saturday, the first 50 customers will receive a card for free four-inch pies for a year. The exclusive specials culminate on Sunday in honor of Pi Day, with all four-inch pies being priced at $3.14.
