Leo Paul Poisson went home to be with our Lord on October 3, 2015 at Levine & Dickson Hospice House in Huntersville, NC.  He was 99 years young having lived a very active and fulfilling life.

 
Born March 11, 1916 to William and Rose Poisson in Chisholm, ME.  He was a graduate of Cony High School in Augusta, ME having been an outstanding athlete.  After graduation he went to work at a local shoe store and continued to play baseball with the Augusta Loggers and the Calumet Club spending a summer at the venerable Fenway Park training and meeting the greats of baseball such as Yogi Berra, Joe DeMaggio, Bobby Doerr and Ted Williams.  Paul continued to be a dedicated and enthusiastic Red Sox fan his entire life.  
 
While working in Augusta he met the love of his life, Jeannette Guerrette.  They were married June 10, 1941.  He was a Veteran having served in the United States Navy from 1942 to 1944 as a Pharmacy Mate during which time he received the WW II Victory Medal, Asiatic Pacific Medal and American Area Medal. 
 
Paul and Jeannette’s 61 year marriage produced four children.    Diane Gerrish and husband Rich Arthur of Allen, TX, Louise Penta of Naples, FL, Dolores and Robert Harmon of Huntersville, NC, and daughter-in-law, Jane Poisson of Virginia Beach, VA. Paul is survived by eight loving and devoted grandchildren and their spouses, Lisa Dockrill (Ian), Christopher Gerrish (Lisa), Adrienne Penta Lissner (Dan), Paul Penta (Marlena), Amanda Lyle (Mark), Meredith Poisson, Sara Self (David) and Nicole Harmon and nine great grandchildren.  Also nephew Peter Cote and wife Janet, daughter Diane Fucci and husband, Vince and niece, Theresa Cote.
 
Paul was predeceased by his wife Jeannette Poisson, sister Corilla Cote, son Paul Poisson, and sons-in-law P. Anthony Penta, M.D. and Charles Gerrish.
 
His lifelong career was spent working for J.J.  Nissan Baking Company in Bangor, ME.  He was an avid golfer being a member of the Penobscot Country Club and active parishioner of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.     They retired in Port Orange, FL where they had many happy years together.
 
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Levine & Dickson Hospice House,  11900 Vanstory Drive, Huntersville, NC 28078.   A Memorial Mass will be held at Our Lady of Hope Catholic Church in Port Orange, FL on Tuesday, October 27 at 2:00 p.m.  Burial will be at the Veteran’s Cemetery in Augusta, ME beside his beloved Jeannette at a later date.
