Know a budding musician? Registration open for Cornelius Youth Orchestras

The Cornelius Youth Orchestras offer seven programs for community youth to participate in.

May 2. Registration is open for the 2023-2024 Cornelius Youth Orchestras’ season.

The orchestras will help a child to become a better musician, offer opportunities to play in a full orchestra and other ensembles, make new friends, perform in the community, and have a blast while doing it all, organizers promise.

The Cornelius Youth Orchestras offer seven programs for community youth to participate in:

  • Orchestra
  • Prelude Strings (minimal experience required)
  • Brass Ensemble
  • Junior Brass Ensemble (minimal experience required)
  • Brass Challenge (no experience/audition required)
  • Woodwind Ensemble
  • Woodwind Challenge (no experience/audition required)

The upcoming season is expected to be the group’s  most exciting yet, with a packed lineup of concerts and events featuring the CYO’s talented young musicians, organizers said in a news release.

“Our incredible artistic faculty, comprised of some of Charlotte’s finest musicians and educators, has designed challenging and rewarding programs that will help students take their skills to the next level,” orchestra spokeswoman April Dunn said.

Open houses

If your child have an interest in joining the Cornelius Youth Orchestras next season, families  are welcome to attend an open house  either 7 pm  Monday, May 1, or Tuesday, May 9 at the Bailey Middle School, 11900 Bailey Rd.  Register here to learn more about the organization.
