Joseph Robert Washam, Jr. 92 of Cornelius died October 5, 2015 at his home. He was born on July 12, 1923 in Mecklenburg County to Joseph Robert Washam, Sr. and Nonie Vance Washam. He served in the US Army and worked as a home builder, saw mill operator and marina operator. Joe was a master woodworker.

 

He was preceded in death by his wife Pauline Stewart Washam.

 

Survivors include his sons Joseph Robert, III “Bob” of Ellenboro, Fred “Steve” and wife Ramona of Concord, Roy Marshall and wife Betsy of Clinton, SC; and daughter, Beverly Harwell of Cornelius; 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

 

The funeral service will be held at 11 AM Wednesday, October 7 at Bethel Presbyterian Church with Rev. Bill Cain officiating. Visitation will be held in the Family Life Center 9:30-11 AM prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
