Huskies welcome West Meck for conference opener; Vote for Bennett

Sept. 26. After beginning the season with a tough run non-conference matchups, the 5-0 Huskies welcome 0-5 West Meck Hawks to Hough on Friday night for both team’s first game in the new Greater Charlotte 7A/8A Conference.

The Hawks have scored 26 points total this season, including one passing touchdown and two rushing touchdowns in total.

West Meck’s losses include a 20-point shutout by Olympic, and last week’s 55-point blanking at the hands of West Charlotte.

Hough is coming off a blowout win against New Bern. The Huskies have outscored opponents thus far season 147-60.

This week Hough held onto it’s No. 1 ranking in the Charlotte Observer’s 7A high school football poll.

Kickoff is 7:00 p.m. at Hough. Tickets are $8 on the GoFan app.

Pregame activities

Huskies fans are invited to the school’s free Fall Festival Tailgate prior to tonight’s game. Gates open at 6:00 pm, and kids ages 5 – 11 are invited to play games, participate in activities and jump in a bouncy house until halftime. All activities are free.

Vote for player of the week

Huskies senior cross country runner Jack Bennett is a finalist for this week’s Charlotte Observer Boys High School Athlete of the Week. Bennett a personal-best 16:23 to finish 48th in the 283-runner field at the Hare and Hounds’ Invitational, the second fastest time run in school history. Click here to vote.
