Important Dates

Huntersville seeks school supply donations, and plans a week of fun in August

July 6. The Town of Huntersville is collecting school supplies July 1-31 to distribute at National Night Out on Aug. 3  and Fun Friday on Aug. 6.

The collection is in partnership with the Huntersville Police Department and Huntersville Presbyterian Church.

Items needed include: book bags, paper, 3-ring binders, No. 2 pencils, pens, colored pencils, crayons, pocket folders, index cards, sticky notes, ears buds, ruler, scissors and glue sticks.

“We would love to send our children back to school with all the supplies they need for a great year,” said Lindsay Small, Downtown Events & Facilities Coordinator for the Town of Huntersville Parks & Recreation.

Items can be dropped off at Huntersville Recreation Center, Huntersville Town Hall, Huntersville Presbyterian Church, and the Huntersville Police Department. Additional drop off locations may be added to the website as businesses sign on as collection sites.

Kick off the school year

All are invited to join in kicking off the school year with a week of fun  Aug. 2-6.  Each day is at a different park with a different activity theme and offers two time slots.

Make It Monday, Aug. 2: Crafts & Games at Abernathy Park,  10 am-11 am and 6 pm-7 pm.

Thanking Tuesday, Aug. 3: Huntersville Police Department National Night Out at North Meck Park. 6 pm-8 pm. Games and food trucks on site.

Water Wednesday, Aug. 4: Cool off with water games at Waymer Park. 10 am-11 am and 6 pm-7 pm.

Take a Trip Thursday, Aug. 5: Downtown Huntersville Scavenger Hunt. 10 am-11 am,  followed by LalaCaboosa 6 pm-9 pm.

FUN Friday, Aug. 6:  Back 2 School Bash at Veterans Park with teen bands, games, food trucks and school supply distribution 6 pm-9 pm.
