Hough Spring Sports: Week Seven

By Benson Stubbs — After some time off for spring break, Hough was back in action this week. Here is our weekly roundup of scores and statistics for the Huskies spring sports season.

Baseball: The Huskies returned to action at Myers Park and fell 8-7. They will look to rebound at home Friday night at 6:30 p.m. The Huskies are 5-2 in conference and 12-6 overall.

Boys Tennis: The Huskies lost 1-8 at home against Myers Park. The doubles team of Daniel Ben-Yohanon and Chase Devy recorded the team’s lone win. The team will compete in the Greater Charlotte Conference tournament Tuesday.

Girls Soccer: The Huskies defeated Myers Park 3-1 on the road. Olivia Miller had a goal and an assist, accounting for two scores. Goalkeeper Riley Pickels made seven saves over 80 minutes. The team played at Hopewell and will travel to West Mecklenburg next week. The Huskies are ranked in the top 20 nationally by MaxPreps, No. 6 in North Carolina and first in the Greater Charlotte 7A/8A Conference with a perfect conference record.

Softball: The Huskies split two games, defeating Garinger 15-0 and losing to Providence 3-1. Payton Elwell hit a home run against Garinger. The team struggled to get on base against Providence. The Huskies will face South Mecklenburg on a neutral field at Waddell Language Academy on Friday. The team leads the Greater Charlotte 7A/8A Conference with a 7-0 record.

Boys lacrosse: The Huskies went 2-0 on a spring break barnstorming trip to the beach, beating Ashley 14-8 and Croatan 13-8 to move to 10-3 on the season with a big matchup tonight in Raleigh against Green Level.

Girls lacrosse: Hough moves to 5-2 this season with a win 17-3 win this week against Christ the King.
