By Ryan Moxon — The Hough boys basketball team ended a resurgent season Thursday night at home, falling to South Mecklenburg 76-68 in the second round of the NCHSAA state tournament.
The Huskies had beaten the Sabres in three previous meetings this season, including a six-point victory in last week’s conference championship.
Both teams traded leads for most of the night before South Mecklenburg pulled away with 28 points in the fourth quarter.
Hough wrapped up the season 20-7, marking the program’s best finish in six years under first-year head coach Beau Maye.
