Nov. 14. By Ryan Moxin. Hough opened its second-round playoff game with a 47-yard run by junior quarterback Ethan Royal on the first snap of the game, setting up a 35-yard rushing touchdown by sophomore running back Jamarion Morrison just 31 seconds into the first quarter.
Palisades’ first offenseive possession featured a failed snap, a near interception and a 35-yard punt. Hough answered with a 17-yard touchdown reception by Morrison to give Hough a 14-0 lead.
The Pumas went three-and-out on their second possession, leading to a 22-yard punt return by the Huskies and a 42-yard touchdown run by Morrison to extend the lead to 21-0 with 4:45 remaining in the first quarter.
Hough added another score before the end of the first and tacked on four more touchdowns in the second quarter. Palisades managed one score before halftime and entered the locker room trailing 56-7.
The game featured early trash talk and a minor scuffle between the teams during warmups, but the matchup was a one-sided rout from the opening whistle.
The Huskies won the game by a final score of 63-7 on a chilly night at Hough to remain undefeated at 11-0.
Hough faces West Forsyth in the third round next Friday at Hough.
