Sept. 23. Shipt, an on-demand grocery delivery service, is bringing grocery delivery to Cornelius—and Charlotte. Shipt officially launches Sept. 29 at area Publix stores.

“We’re always on the lookout for growing cities that embrace innovation,” said Bill Smith, founder and CEO of Shipt. “As we expand into Charlotte, we look forward to making peoples’ lives easier with on-demand grocery delivery, while also identifying unique opportunities to give back to the community.”

Customers can select from the full range of items available at Publix using a mobile app. The app allows customers to select specific items and provide notes regarding any preferences or substitutions.

Deliveries can be scheduled for one-hour windows as soon as an hour after the order. Shipt is hiring 300 “Shoppers” who will be trained to select high-quality produce and communicate closely with the customers.

There is an annual fee of $99 or a monthly fee of $14. Prior to the Sept. 29 launch, customers can receive a pre-launch price of $49 for a one-year membership.

Members receive unlimited free delivery for orders over $35. Shipt offers sale items including “buy one, get one free” items from the grocery store’s weekly sales. Shipt prices vary from grocery store prices by an average of approximately $5 on a $35 order.

Shipt says their Shoppers make an average of $15 to $25 an hour. To find out how to be a Shipt Shopper, go to www.shipt.com/be-a-shopper/
