Hold the cell phone Mabel, let’s explore

A new program called “Cornelius: Young Explorers” will let kids experience the outdoors, perform scientific investigations and practice environmental stewardship. Led by Pamela Lewis with Lake Norman Wildlife Conservationists, participants will investigate creatures that live in soil and wood, learn to identify local birds, plants, and wildflowers, explore the life of pollinators, and cast for catfish and brim in the Robbins Park turtle pond.

This six-week program is for boys and girls, ages 7 to 12. The group will meet on Tuesdays, 6:30-7:30 pm, April 16 to May 21 at the Westmoreland Athletic Complex shelter, 8430 Westmoreland Road. The cost is $50 for residents or $65 for non-residents.

Register online at www.cornelius.org/parc or in person at Cornelius Town Hall. For additional information contact the Cornelius PARC Department: parc@cornelius.org or call 704-892-6031.
