Got gas? You probably do

Circle K on Tuesday May 18 around 9:45 am

May 18. During our gas pump drive-by’s this morning, QuikTrip was totally out of gas, while Cashion’s, Exxon and Circle K were pumping pretty much as per usual at $2.99 for regular unleaded.

Deliveries came in last night according to our sources in the world of retail fuel in Cornelius. He said supplies will become steadier as consumers realize they no longer need to panic and hoard.

Basically what’s happening is that Charlotte’s gasoline supply is riding around in cars, causing a temporary blip.

From Tom Kloza, the dean of oil and gas analysts nationwide:

“Still seeing issues with Southeastern supply from last week’s Colonial freeze. Meanwhile, many east of the Mississippi markets report sales last week up 20-24 percent thanks to petro-noia.”

That’s the fear of not having a full tank of gas.

Kloza went on to say the latest problem is a shortage of drivers to take ethanol from rail terminals to product racks.
