Good reading in Davidson

ReadDavidson, which encourages people to read a selected book and attend fun and educational book-related events, has selected four books in  multiple age groups for next year’s reading list:

Adult (non-fiction): “Caste: The Origins of Our Discontent” by Isabel Wilkerson
Young Adult/Adult (fiction): “Legendborn” by Tracy Deonn
Middle Grades: “Genesis Begins Again” by Alicia D. Williams
Children’s Book: “The Power of One” by Trudy Ludwig, illustrated by Mike Curato

“After a year like 2020 when our habits have changed, our travel has been limited, and we’re dealing with tough situations, we need books now more than ever to be able to learn and explore,” said Marie Harris, branch leader of the Davidson Public Library.

Special events will be scheduled for April in conjunction with the town’s annual “April is for Arts” initiative but will also include a few virtual events in February and March to stimulate early reading. Virtual events will highlight each of these four selections with the aim of stimulating common conversation between friends, families, and community members.
