Girl Scouts hosting food drive on Saturday for Ada Jenkins

Oct. 8. Girl Scout Troops 864 and 2303 will hold a food drive this Saturday, Oct. 11, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the corner of Jetton Road and Peninsula Club Drive, across from the entrance to The Peninsula Club.

The drive will benefit the Ada Jenkins Food Pantry, which partners with Nourish Up, formerly Loaves & Fishes. The pantry allows clients to shop for their own nutritionally balanced groceries up to 12 times a year.

The troops’ goal is to collect 1,000 pounds of packaged or canned food. Glass containers cannot be accepted. Cash or check donations will also be accepted, with 100 percent of proceeds going toward food purchases for the pantry. Checks should be made out to Meck 1 Girl Scouts.

Donations may also be dropped off in advance at 17935 Peninsula Club Drive North.
