Sept. 23. Girl Scouts Troops 1236, 2303 and 864 have a goal of collecting 1,200 pounds of food from The Peninsula neighborhood.

Donations benefit Loaves & Fishes and Ada Jenkins Center in Davidson.

Details

Two locations will be set up 9-11 am Saturday, Oct. 8, to collect non-perishable food; no glass containers. The Scouts will be set at the corner of Jetton Road and Peninsula Club Drive North and at the park at the corner of Harbor Light Boulevard and Flying Jib Road.

Any food you can donate is appreciated, and healthy food is best, Scout leaders say.  The troops are also accepting cash or check donations; make checks out to Meck 1 Girl Scouts.

What if you’re not home?

Anyone who will not be home during the food drive is welcome to drop off food in advance.  There will be a collection bin on the front porch of 17935 Peninsula Club Drive North (across Jetton from Peninsula Club Drive) the week before the food drive.

Food donations, cash or checks can be dropped off Saturday, Oct. 8.
