Former Wher-Rena Site Vacant Again

The SouthTown Motorsports boat dealership has relocated its Lake Norman showroom from West Catawba Avenue in Cornelius to Grayland Road in Mooresville.

The dealership had been operating at the former site of Wher-Rena Boatland, which was also briefly home to an Ed Watkins Marine store.

Neighbors said the remaining inventory at the property was moved within the past week.

A source familiar with the relocation said the dealership’s lease at the West Catawba site was expiring and that the new Mooresville facility offers a larger space with more modern amenities. SouthTown Motorsports also operates locations in Charlotte and Raleigh.

The West Catawba property is owned by Catawba Property Investments, an entity affiliated with NASCAR driver Joey Logano.

A motorcoach retrofitting business associated with Logano is also no longer on the property.

I guess I’ll tear it down and put in a couple hundred condos or apartments and clog up Catawba Avenue even more
