Former legislator, psychiatrist will field questions on medical marijuana

TARTE

Jeff Tarte, a 6-year member of both the NC Senate Health Care Committee and Joint Legislative Oversight Committee on Health Care, has been added to the Newsmakers Breakfast agenda Wednesday morning June 19 at The Peninsula Club.

The former NC senator is a graduate of the Legislative Health Policy Fellows Program at the NC Institute of Medicine.

In addition to serving as mayor of Cornelius, Tarte worked 40 years as a consultant to health care executives in all 50 states and five foreign countries.

He will join Dr. William F. Wright, a psychiatrist with Atrium Health, for the Q&A at the Newsmakers Breakfast June 19. The breakfast buffet begins at 7:30 am, with a hard close at 9. Doors open at 7:15 am for networking.

The Q&A over breakfast will take an unbiased, scientific look at the use and sale of cannabis-derived oils and medical claims, as well as business and social implications.

Wright, one of only two addiction psychiatrists with Atrium, is an assistant professor at the Sandra and Leon Levine Psychiatry Residence Program at the UNC School of Medicine.
