Fondo returns to Davidson Aug. 13

It’s Fondo time

July 31. Davidson will host the Lake Norman Fondo Cycling Event will take place on Sunday, Aug. 13. Three different rides are offered, all starting at 7:30 am: 35-miles, 50-miles, and 75-miles. All rides originate on Lorimer Road near the Town Green and head east out of town on Davidson-Concord Road.

Some 500 participants are anticipated at this year’s event.

Riders will be welcomed back into town by Mayor Rusty Knox playing his own music, followed by the Josey Wails Band. There will be beer from Hoptown Brewery, Lost Worlds Brewery, HopFly Brewery and Sierra Nevada.

Davidson Street Closures

Lorimer Road will be closed from the CVS parking lot to Davidson-Concord Road beginning, Saturday, Aug. 12 at 6 pm through Sunday, Aug. 13 at 4 pm.

Parking

Participating cyclists, are asked to park in the public lots along Jackson Street. Please note due to Sunday’s church services, available parking Downtown may be limited.

Village Green Activity: The Village Green will host all Lake Norman Fondo event related activities throughout the day. The Town of Davidson requests that concert goers please not set up chairs and/or tents until after 4:00 p.m. to ensure the cycling event has officially concluded and its event organizers have had ample time to restore the Village Green to its pre-event condition. The town’s Concert on the Green will take place starting at 6:00 p.m. with a performance by Riggsbee Road.
