July. 22. A jet ski crash Sunday afternoon resulted in the death of a juvenile, according to the fire department. The crash happened around 4:30 p.m. off Peninsula Cove Lane.

Fire department sources said the town fireboat was close by training and they were on scene very quickly.

A truck from Fire Station No. 2 arrived simultaneously and they began CPR. A crew from Fire Station No. 1 assisted with patient care due to the severity of the injuries.

It’s unclear exactly what happened but there were more patients In the water. The fireboat went to investigate and found two other patients on a sailboat, one was uninjured. The fireboat transported them to Kings Point Marina where they met a crew from Huntersville Station No. 2 as well as Medic.

Firefighters assisted Medic with transporting the patient to CMC. As of 1 pm Monday, Cornelius Police had not released any information.
