For one night only, Discovery Place Science will be transformed through a series of hands-on thematic Science Salon experiences. Guests will then be invited to explore the Science Salons, meeting inventors and innovators transforming the way we live, work, and play while enjoying a moveable feast like none other. Discovery Place Kids, Huntersville. 6pm-10pm.

Kids Movie Night: The Lion King

Guests are welcome.  Register online. 6pm-9pm. Peninsula Yacht Club.

Joe Gibbs Racing Fan Fest and Car Show

Driver Appearances include Denny Hamlin, Kyle Busch, Martin Truex Jr., Erik Jones, plus more team drivers will be signing autographs at staggered times throughout the day. There will also be a raffle: your chance to win exclusive NASCAR merchandise as well as some autographed items.


Saturday September 28

Tawba Walk Arts & Music Festival

The Tawba Walk is a multidimensional, eclectic art crawl, which snakes through the heart of Cornelius, featuring dozens of local vendors, live street performances, shopping, amazing food and more, showcasing the best Cornelius and the surrounding areas have to offer. 2pm-8pm.

Lake Norman Wildlife Oyster & Shrimp Festival

Tickets are now on sale for the Lake Norman Wildlife Oyster & Shrimp Fest @ LangTree Lake Norman. As always, the event will include great food and beverages, live music by Rockie Lynne, and tons of family fun!

Murray’s Mill 35th Annual Harvest Folk Festival

Come celebrate Catawba County’s agricultural heritage with an array of exhibits, craftsmen and activities. There are plenty of great things to do including petting zoos, pony rides and antique cars.

RiverFest 2019

If you are looking for a free, fun, family activity on September 28, 2019, you are in the right place! RiverFest is a family friendly, riverside festival that will highlight the importance of the Catawba River to our quality of life in the Charlotte Region.

Doggie Dip & Splash

America’s Home for Racing will be America’s Home for NASCAR Playoff drama in September, when the Bank of America ROVAL™ 400 returns on Charlotte’s world-renowned ROVAL™! The first road course race in the history of the NASCAR Cup Series Playoffs. Charlotte Motor Speedway.

Mud at the Mill

This juried show features works by local artists that incorporate clay, either functional or sculptural, and will be on display, and available for purchase, in the Cornelius Arts Center gallery.

Sphinx Virtuosi in Concert

Sphinx Virtuosi is one of the nation’s most dynamic professional chamber orchestras. Composed of 18 of the nation’s top Black and Latinx classical soloists, these alumni of the internationally renowned Sphinx Competition come together each fall as cultural ambassadors to reach new audiences.

Vulture Playground Fun

Have you ever seen a King Vulture on a playground? We’ll Pishi has his own fun yard out beside his enclosure in the Vulture Culture exhibit. You won’t want to miss this bird’s favorite part of the day.

Tune & Tales with Jamie

Join us with your kids for a story time with live music! Our musical story teller, Jamie, will lead our avid young readers in tunes accompanied by her mellifluous guitar and ukulele that complement the book of the day.
