Events May 9 – May 12

The fifth annual Red, White and Bundled Baby Shower, sponsored by the Susan M. Tillis Foundation, collects baby items for new mothers at Fort Bragg. It’s at 6-7:30 p.m. tonight at Cornelius Town Hall. The North Carolina Brewers and Music Festival is Friday and Saturday at Historic Rural Hill in Huntersville. And the Cornelius PARC Department is once again offering SKWOD Fit Camp, a five-week session that will improve strength and body compositionstarting May 14.

Thursday, May 9

Bring It On

The Hopewell Headliners will present “Bring It On: The Musical.” Loosely based on the 2000 film, the show features singing, acting and cheer stunts. 7 p.m. May 9-11 at Hopewell High School.

Friday, May 10

Music Festival

 The North Carolina Brewers and Music Festival will feature The Infamous Stringdusters, Donna the Buffalo, Scythian and more along with beer from Big Boss Brewing Company, Cabarrus Brewing Company, and dozens of other local breweries. May 10-11 at Historic Rural Hill in Huntersville.

Bright Ideas

Our first juried exhibition will be on display April 26-June 21 at the Cornelius Arts Center. 

Saturday, May 11

Huntersville Growers’ Market

Market opens this weekend with live music, face painting, balloon twisters and breakfast with Chef Matt. 8 a.m.-noon at Veterans Park in Huntersville.

Community Bike Ride

The Cornelius Police Department will lead a 10-mile community bicycle ride through the streets and greenways of Cornelius and Davidson. Ages 14 and up. Ages 14-17 must be accompanied by an adult. 9 a.m. at the Bailey Road Recreation Center. A family bike ride will be held at 10:30 a.m.

Bike Expo

Demos, tips and information about the best places to ride in Lake Norman and North Mecklenburg County. 10 a.m. at the Bailey Road Recreation Center.

Race City Festival

Food trucks, live music, dance performances, kids’ activities, more than 100 arts and crafts vendors. Rain or shine! 9 a.m.-5 p.m. in downtown Mooresville.

Teen Geek Club

Teens and pre-teens invited to share Minecraft fandom with themed crafts and activities. 2-3 p.m. at the Cornelius Branch Library.

Gospel Concert

Gospel groups The Coffmans and The Bledsoes will perform. 6 p.m. at Living Word Ministries in Lowesville.

Sunday, May 12

Mother’s Day Celebration

Celebrate all our wonderful moms! Read “The Night Before Mother’s Day” and make a unique gift. 11:15 a.m. at Discovery Place KIDS in Huntersville.
