Events June 6 – June 9

If you didn’t register the kids for summer camp yet, never fear. Cornelius PARC is here. They have more than 125 full-day or partial-day camps. June camps that still have spaces include baseball, disc golf, sand volleyball, LEGO movie camp, paper engineering and splash zone. Calling all youth musicians! If you have at least one year of playing experience, come find out what the Cornelius Youth Orchestras are all about. Open house sessions will be held 6:30-7:30 p.m. June 11 and 18 and Aug. 6 and 13 at Bailey Road Recreation Center.

Bright Ideas

Our first juried exhibition will be on display April 26-June 21 at the Cornelius Arts Center.

Beaver Dam Food Truck Jam

Live music, food trucks, more. 5-10 p.m. at the Beaver Dam Historical Home and Grounds in Davidson.

Birkdale Concert Series

Jimmy Buffett tribute band The Party Parrot Band will perform. Tropical shirts and dancing encouraged! 6-8 p.m. at Birkdale Village in Huntersville.

Music on Main

The Legacy Motown Revue will perform. 6:30-9:30 p.m. on the Mooresville Town Hall lawn.

Mingling on the Greens

Bring a chair or blanket and the family for live music. 7-9 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays at Birkdale Village in Huntersville.

Stand-up Comedy Showcase

Each first Friday of the month, we feature some of the area’s best comics in a fast-paced evening of stand-up hilarity. 8-10 p.m. at Brick Row in Cornelius.

Saturday, June 8

Huntersville Growers’ Market

It’s Little Chefs Day! Kids ages 5-12 invited for a free cooking lesson with Chef Matt. Sessions start at 9, 10 and 11 a.m. Live music by Charlotte Folk Society. 8 a.m.-noon at Veterans Park in Huntersville.

Advanced Knitting Workshop

Take your knitting skills up a stitch with more complicated techniques and personalized instruction. $25 per person. 10 a.m.-2 p.m. at Historic Latta Plantation in Huntersville.

Live 360° Launch Party

Learn how Northlake Mall is building community engagement through its new Live 360° program at this full day of performances, demonstrations and information. 10 a.m.-6 p.m. at Northlake Mall.

Stand-up Paddleboarding

Cornelius PARC is offering paddleboarding lessons. Ages 12 and up; participants younger than 16 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. 3:30-5 p.m. at Aloha Paddle Sports in Cornelius.

Sunday, June 9

Bird Show

Native and exotic flight birds and their trainers will exhibit their skills. 11 a.m. Saturdays and Sundays at the Carolina Raptor Center in Huntersville.

Concert

The Alexander Community Concert Series welcomes award-winning bluegrass quartet The Farm Hands. A reception follows the concert. Adults, $15; seniors and students, $10; children under 12, free. 3 p.m. at St. Peter by-the-Lake Episcopal Church in Denver.

Concert on the Green

The Band of Oz will perform at 6 p.m. on the Davidson Town Green.
