Events July 25 – July 31

Experience the Outdoor Cinema Series. This weeks movie is How to Train your Dragon: Hidden World.  6:30pm – 11pm at Ramsey Creek Park. Scare much?  Try the Moorseville Ghost Tours.  These one-hour walking, guided ghost tours run Friday and Saturdays year-round, from 6pm to 10pm. Bring the whole family to enjoy Piedmont Dance Theatre’s presentation of Peter Pan on Saturday, July 27 at 7:00pm at Kannapolis Performing Arts Center. End the week with a performance by The School of Rock All-Stars. The School of Rock AllStars are top teenage musicians from around the globe, touring North America and wowing crowds with classic and modern rock and roll hits.  Join Eleven Lakes Brewery on Saturday July 27 from 5-9pm to support the Boesmiller family with the Drink for Jess event.

 

Thursday, July 25

Crafts with Jennifer

South Iredell Senior Center. Join senior Center Manager, Jennifer Barraclough on Thursday, July 25th from 10 – 11:30 am for a DIY craft. This month we will be creating a string art wall hanging. You can see an example set up at the front desk of the senior center.

Paddle at Tailrace Marina

Join Catawba Riverkeeper staff and friends for a paddle at Tailrace Marina on Thursday, July 25 at 6:30 PM. Catawba Riverkeeper is providing kayaks and gear to the first 18 people to sign up.

Friday, July 26

Mooresville Ghost Tour

6pm-10pm. Charles Mac citizens Center. These one-hour walking, guided ghost tours run Friday and Saturdays year-round, from six to ten, a tour leaving each hour, on the hour. Please arrive ten minutes prior to your tour time to meet with your group and guide.

Jazz and Fish Fry at Studio 13

Get ready for an exciting new jazz series that’s about hit the scene here in Old Town. Friday Night Jazz & Fish Fry at Studio 13 will debut on Friday, July 26 from 7-9 pm and feature international jazz recording artist Calvin Edwards Trio along with a Fish Fry from Mary’s Cultural Melting Pot!

Saturday July 27

How to Train your Dragon: Hidden World.  6:30pm – 11pm.  Ramsey Creek Park. Join us for this family-friendly movie on our blimp screen plus, it’s a boat-in, so you’ll be able to watch the movie from the water or the beach! Don’t forget your chairs and blankets!

Aerial View Band at Birkdale Village

Please join us Saturday, July 27th at Birkdale Village…7-9pm. Lots of good food and drinks around…bring a chair and enjoy some great music.

Peter Pan

Bring the whole family to enjoy Piedmont Dance Theatre’s presentation of Peter Pan on Saturday, July 27 at 7:00pm at Kannapolis Performing Arts Center. PDT will be bringing this classic fairy tale to the stage for kids of all ages! Peter Pan is a full-length production comprised of ballet, character, jazz, and contemporary dance styles.

Surviving in Space

We got to space! Now, how do we live here? We will look at some Earthly examples of how to survive in extreme conditions. Discovery Place Kids – Huntersville.

Drinking for Jess

Join us Saturday July 27 from 5-9pm to support the Boesmiller family! Eleven Lakes Brewing will donate a portion of all proceeds to the Boesmiller family. There will be music provided by AAA Entertainment, food provided by Cousins food truck and the The Dog Haus, a silent auction, a 50/50 drawing and more! The Silent Auction is from 5-8pm, cash and online cash apps accepted! Bring your family and friends out for a good cause!

A Comedy of Tenors

Monday July 29

Community Garden

Latta Plantation.  Grow your own organic vegetables, herbs or flowers right here in the fenced garden behind the plantation house. Community garden plots will be accessible Mondays through Saturdays, 9 am – 5 pm and Sundays, 1 pm – 5 pm. Gardeners need to provide their own seeds, plants and tools.

National Black Theater Festival

The 16th biennial National Black Theatre Festival rolls out the purple carpet, transforming North Carolina’s city of arts and innovation into a mega-performing arts center with over 100 performances in a number of the city’s venues.

Tuesday July 30

Meet Crista Cammaroto – Artist in Residence

Crista Cammaroto will bring her Terra Forma series to the Carolina Raptor Center fusing her earth based found object work with inspiration from the changing seasons for the raptors and the nature that surrounds them on the grounds of CRC.  These circular forms begin with sculpting the dirt and become intricate with the use of sticks, berries, grasses, leaves and other artifacts.

Wednesday July 31

Tunes & Tales with Jamie

Join us with your kids for a story time with live music! Our musical story teller, Jamie, will lead our avid young readers in tunes accompanied by her mellifluous guitar and ukelele that complement the book of the day. 10am-10:30am

School of Rock All-Stars

The School of Rock AllStars are top teenage musicians from around the globe, touring North America and wowing crowds with classic and modern rock and roll hits. They are joined by School of Rock house bands that showcase the area’s local talent. 7pm, Visulite Theater.
