Get ready for Big Day at the Lake! More than 600 “bigs” and “littles” from Big Brothers Big Sisters will embark with a bevy of ​B​oat ​H​osts for a day of lake fun Saturday.​ The 2018 Disc Golf Amateur World Championships will have practice sessions and tournament matches at both Bailey Road Park and Robbins Park next week. Disc golf courses there will be closed to the public July 21-28.​ Be sure to round​ up your gently​ ​used goods for donation to the Ada Jenkins Center benefit yard sale scheduled for Aug. 4. Donations will be accepted at the center through July 23.

Thursday, July 19
Community hot dog lunch will be offered each Thursday in June and July. Donations welcome. 11 a.m.-1 p.m. at Bethel Presbyterian Church in Cornelius.
Author Scott Reintgen will present “How to Get an Agent.” 6:30-7:30 p.m. at Main Street Books in Davidson.

Youth Orchestra
The Cornelius Youth Orchestras is a community orchestra open to all youth musicians with one or more years of music instruction. New member rehearsal and orientation will be Aug. 21.
Public Meeting
