Events July 11 – July 17

Get ready, Lake Norman! The 2nd Friday Street Festival series is back and better than ever. Moses Jones & The Dirty Southern Soul will be performing at the Oak Street Mill. Put on your space suit because it’s almost time to go to the moon with Astronaut Training on Sunday July 14th at Discovery Place Kids. Come witness a reenactment of the 1780 battle between the local Patriot militia and Loyalist troops at the Battle of Huck’s Defeat in historic Brattonsville.  Be sure to register for the Newsmakers Breakfast on July 25 featuring Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden doing a Q&A.

Outdoor Concert Series

LaLaCaboosa is back! Chunky Daddy will perform 6:30-9 p.m. at Veterans Park in Huntersville.

Langtree Live

Join us every Thursday from May to September at Langtree Lake Norman for our award-winning concert series. We have some exciting things in store this year including an amazing band lineup. The band goes live every Thursday at 7pm.

Starry Night

Travel around our Solar System.  Discover facts about the dwarf planet Pluto.  Then off to constellations, star clusters, nebulas, and galaxies traveling in our multi-light speed spaceship.  Includes a demonstration of three different telescopes with former educator at Ingram Planetarium.  6:00 PM – 7:00 PM, Youth services community room.

Mooresville Arts Annual Photography Show

Mooresville Arts hosts the 15th Annual Photography Show & Competition opening reception. A judged group exhibit showing the diversity and creative work of local photographers. 103 W. Center Ave, from 6-8pm. Visit Mooresville Arts for more information.

Mooresville Ghost Tours

These one-hour walking, guided ghost tours run Friday and Saturdays year-round, from six to ten.  All tours begin and end at the marked meeting point at the Charles Mack Citizen center downtown. Bookings are required to be in by noon on day of the tour. If it is after noon, accommodations may be made by contacting Ethereal Crack directly via their website. $15 Adult $12 Child $11.25 Family

2nd Friday Street Festival

Bird Show at 11am

Sat Jul 13th 11:00am.  Take flight at Bird Show this summer at Carolina Raptor Center. The CRC flight team is back again. You and your family will be wowed by the show put on by these native and exotic flight birds and their trainers at this annual sensation.  Show is FREE with general admission.

Mingling on the Green Concert Series

Join us for live music every Friday and Saturday night from 7 – 9 PM, June 1 – August 31. Bring a chair, blanket and the whole family!

Sunday July 14

Astronaut Training

Discovery Place Kids – Huntersville.  Put on your space suit because it’s almost time to go to the moon! The moon is very different from Earth, so we will have to train hard to make those first steps! Join us as we train using fine and gross motor skills.

Alder Trail Hike

10:00am to 11:00am. Join a Ranger and enjoy a short hike at Lake Norman State Park. We will hike the .8 mile Alder Trail which follows the shorelines of Norwood and Hicks Creek. Participants can expect to discover flora and fauna which call the park home.

Monday July 15

Main Street Readers Book Club

Sunday July 14 from 10 am to 3 pm, Historic Brattonsville.  At the actual site of an important Patriot militia victory this event includes a reenactment of the 1780 battle between the local Patriot militia and Loyalist troops.

Music Bingo Monday

7:30 pm at the Old Town Public House.  If you know your Adele from your Zeppelin, have we got the event for you! Music Bingo Monday at {OTPH} is fast-paced, action-packed and the perfect antidote to the Monday blues!

Tuesday July 16

Blast Off: Apollo 11 Launch

Discovery Place Kids – Huntersville.  On this day 50 years ago, a rocket launched some very brave astronauts into space. We will learn about these astronauts as well as learning about the rockets that took them to another world. Jump on board for this hour-long program beginning at 11 a.m.

Automation in Tech

615 S College St, 9th Floor of the Regions building.  4:00 – 6:00 pm.  This event will cover the programs we use in automation in business, using the latest technologies. We don’t have all the answers so bring your own thoughts and programs as well! We’ll finish with some networking and of course, BEER!

Wednesday July 17

Play Pokemon

Come play in the Pokemon League at Parker, Banner, Kent, and Wayne – Comics and Games.  Starts at 5:30pm.  Entry fee only $5.00.  Every person receives a pack for participating.  Play. Trade. Enjoy.

Newsmakers Breakfast

Mecklenburg County Sheriff Garry McFadden will be the Newsmakers Breakfast speaker July 25 at The Peninsula Club. McFadden, a 36-year veteran of the Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Dept., was elected county sheriff last year.
