There’s a Valentine’s Day dinner cruise on the Lady of the Lake. You can make crafts with the kids at Discovery Place Kids Valentine’s Day. And isn’t this romantic: Buy your special someone a rat and feed it to a bird at the Raptor Center. You might be off Monday, it’s President’s Day.  And Black History Month continues with a Celebration in Huntersville.

Davidson College Symphony Orchestra: Concerto Winners/Works by Women

Join us for a stunning variety of orchestral composers and styles. In conjunction with a new course on Women in Music, this concert will feature works by past and living female composers. Duke Performance Hall, 7:30-9pm.

Haunted Souls Ghost Tour

Experience a  Valentine’s Day candlelit ghost tour at Historic Latta! For this very special evening, we’re offering a spine-chilling tour through the historic home, followed by hot chocolate  and cookies fireside. 6pm.  Latta Plantation.

 

Friday, Feb. 14 – Valentine’s Day

The Rat Pack is Back

In this engaging musical show, you’ll see singers perform as Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Dean Martin and other Rat Pack regulars. Full of humor and memorable tunes, this entertaining performance with audience interaction is a fun-filled experience. 5:30pm, Charles Mack Citizen Center, Mooresville.

Valentine’s Day Dinner Cruise

Rats for Rats

For a donation of $14, Carolina Raptor Center (CRC) will name a rat and feed it to one of their birds of prey. For a $214 donation, the donor can be present to either feed the bird themselves or watch as a trained bird handler does it for them.

Our Presidential Birthplaces

This annual program discusses the impact that our Carolina’s Presidents had on the presidency and the nation. This year’s topic will center on the history of these birthplaces, why these men left to forge a new destiny in Tennessee and the future of these important historical sites.

Project WILD

Free workshop open to all interested educators, such as classroom teachers, environmental educators, resource agency staff and park and nature personnel. The workshop contains more than 150 hands-on activities which focus on wildlife and natural resources. Registration is required. 10am – 4:30pm, Duke Energy Explorium, Huntersville.

Pete the Cat Storytime

Davidson College Concert Series: Beethoven

Presented by 89.9 WDAV, in honor of the 250th year of Beethoven’s birth, this program includes his first piano trio Opus 1, No. 1, and what many consider the crowning masterpiece of all piano trios, the Opus 97 “Archduke,” his last.
