The 2nd Friday Street Festival series is back and better than ever.  Don’t miss out on the 4th Annual Gaga Ball Tournament August 10th.  Register Now.  Also on the 10th, don’t miss the 19th Annual Cardboard Boat Race and Carnival at the Peninsula Yacht Club. Miss May’s Elegant Tea Party will be on the 11th at Rural Hill. Welcome to Hogwarts! Harry Potter Camp kicks off on August 12th.  There’s no better way to introduce your family to the wonders of live theatre than with the magic of ‘CATS’, Aug. 13th.

Langtree Live – Delta Soul

Delta Fire! Rock, Pop and Country with a little SOUL!  Join us every Thursday from May to September for our award-winning concert series.

River Jam Run

Thursday night means it’s time to hit the trails. Take your weekday run off-road in this weekday trail race on the second Thursday of every month from May until September. Each race in the series will feature a 5K(ish) and 10K(ish) distance. Following the race, hang out and enjoy live music at the River Jam concert series.  Whitewater Center.

Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie

Bring your lunch, blankets and cushions and watch a movie at the library this Summer! Two overly imaginative pranksters named George and Harold, hypnotize their principal into thinking he’s a ridiculously enthusiastic, incredibly dimwitted superhero named Captain Underpants.

Mingling on the Green – Birkdale Village

Join us for live music every Friday and Saturday night from 7 – 9 PM, June 1 – August 31. Bring a chair, blanket and the whole family!

Saturday August 10

4th Annual Gaga Ball Tournament

Join us at the gaga pit for this friendly competition for boys and girls, ages 7-14. Pre-registration is required and is open until August 9. Spaces are limited!

19th Annual Cardboard Boat Race and Family Carnival

The Peninsula Yacht Club hosts the 19th Annual Cardboard Boat Race and Carnival. There will be inflatables, water slides, dunk tanks, DJ with games and music, and of course the boat race.

Sunday August 11

Miss May’s Elegant Tea

A tea party honoring Miss May Davidson, benefactress of the Rural Hill Cultural Center.Light hors d’oeuvres, along with teas and lemonade will be the fare of the day.Dress in your tea finery (hats are encouraged, gloves are optional).

Tickets are $30 for adults, $15 for well-behaved and supervised children.

Seating is limited so do not tarry to reserve a space! Proceeds will support Auxiliary projects at Historic Rural Hill.

Volcanoes

Mars is home to the largest volcano in our solar system – Olympus Mons. Join us and compare the volcanoes on Mars with the ones we are more familiar with here on Earth. Discovery Place Kids.

Skulls and Skins

Join a ranger to talk about skins and skulls of different animals. You will be allowed to inspect and investigate each item.  Lake Norman State Park.

Monday August 12

A Journey in Images: Beacons of the East Coast

Mooresville photographer, Bart Mauceri Jr,’s A Journey in Images photography exhibit is coming back to the Mooresville Public Library from June 1st through August 31st. This year’s A Journey in Images exhibit, is titled,” The Beacons of the East Coast” focusing on one of Mauceri’s specialties…lighthouses, from Portland, Maine down to Savannah, Georgia.

Perseid Meteor Shower Night Hike

Take a leisurely stroll through the McDowell Prairie on the peak viewing night of the Perseid Meteor Shower. With cooperative weather, you may see up to 90 meteors per hour as you hike, stopping along the way to gaze up at the stars.  McDowell Nature Center.

Harry Potter Camp

Welcome to Hogwarts! Ever wanted to experience the wonder of Hogwarts, the deliciousness of Butterbeer, the excitement of receiving your Hogwarts Acceptance Letter? Join us for a week in the wizarding world this summer! We can guarantee that this summer camp will be imaginative, immersive, and magical!

There’s no better way to introduce your family to the wonders of live theatre than with the magic, the mystery, the memory of ‘CATS.’ Now that its been seen by millions of audience members worldwide, it’s time to introduce ‘CATS’ to a new generation. 

Wednesday August 14

Main Street Writers

7:00 PM  8:30 PM at Main Street Books in Davidson.  Main Street Writers is the bookstore’s open writing club, where writers of all ages, levels, and genres are invited to convene and dedicate 1.5 hours to honing their craft.

Matt Conroy Live at OTPH

Get ready for an exciting {OTPH} debut as we welcome singer/songwriter Matt Conroy to the stage on Wednesday August 14th!!! Matt performs a blend of new-age Americana storytelling with traditional Country anthems and ballads, a style that he calls Genesee Country. Come out and enjoy the show!
