Nov. 22. Story and photos by Jason Benavides. After a few unexpected delays, Ed’s Tavern in Kenton Place opened its doors to the Lake Norman crowd on Tuesday, Nov. 21. The owners of Ed’s Tavern in Dilworth and FreeMore Tavern took over the Piper’s at Galway Hooker space early this year when the opportunity presented itself. Manager Jake says, “we are excited to finally be open.”

Patrons familiar with the original Ed’s Tavern will find a lot of similarities. The traditional pub style menu features signature burgers, jumbo wings and a variety of hand-helds.

They also offer a late night menu for after-dark munchies.

The new tap system features 20 beers with plans of rotating new craft options frequently. The full bar has a variety of spirits and signature drinks like the Mexican Mule and Ed’s Punch.

The space was renovated to create an open floor plan removing existing partitions and a private room behind the bar adding more seating. The indoor capacity is 105 and the outdoor patio is 100.

Sports fans can rejoice at the 25 TVs “guaranteeing a great view from every seat.” Current Huntersville resident Debbie who previously  lived near the Dilworth location felt “the area lacked sports bars” and welcomes the new spot.
