Sept. 30. Voters planning to cast an early ballot later this month will have to wait an extra week for the convenience of voting close to home.
Early voting in Mecklenburg County begins Oct. 16 at the Hal Marshall Building in uptown Charlotte. Polls open at 8 a.m., and closing times vary depending on the day of the week.
Early voting at the county’s 21 other locations begins a week later. Those sites include Cornelius Town Hall and Davidson Town Hall, as well as the North County Regional Library and Waymer Recreation Center in Huntersville. Polls at those locations will be open from 8 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on weekdays, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturdays, and 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 26.
