Discovery Place Kids-Huntersville celebrates 15 years

Oct. 21. Discovery Place Kids in Huntersville is kicking off a week of festivities to celebrate its 15th anniversary, including special birthday activities on Oct. 23.

From Oct. 21–26, Discovery Place Kids will feature a DIY slime bar where children can create their own slime with mix-ins to take home. The museum will also host a birthday bash on Oct. 23 from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Festivities include a birthday-themed science show, DIY party hats, a celebration dance party, photo ops and complimentary treats for children and families.

All activities are included with museum admission, which costs $14.95 online or $17.95 in person. Annual memberships start at $209 per child. Children under 12 months old are admitted free.

Since opening its doors on Oct. 23, 2010, Discovery Place Kids has welcomed 2.4 million visitors from across the country. The majority, however, come from within 50 miles of the facility, which has become a local destination for families and schools, hosting more than 100,000 children and educators on field trips.

“For a decade and a half, Discovery Place Kids-Huntersville has been a place where children and families come together to explore, imagine and learn through the power of play,” said Dr. Nikki Hill, chief learning officer at Discovery Place. “We’re grateful to be part of a community that values curiosity, creativity and connection, and we are deeply grateful to our supporters, partners and visitors who have made this milestone possible.”
