Davidson Lands Conservancy celebrates Arbor Day; you can, too

Arbor Day is Friday, April 29 this year.

Feb. 7. In honor of Arbor Day, Davidson Lands Conservancy is hosting a community tree planting  along the greenway in the West Branch neighborhood on Saturday, March 19 from 10 am to noon.

Volunteers will gather in Plum Creek Park parking lot, 18928 Bartlett Creek Drive, Davidson. The goal is to create a lasting corridor of tree canopy along this stretch for generations. 

This event is best suited to older children and adults. Work gloves and boots recommended. Up to 50 volunteers are needed. Sign-up is required.

Davidson Lands Conservancy will celebrate North Carolina’s Arbor Day at the Davidson Farmer’s

Market on Saturday, March 5 from 9 am to noon. You can pot a seedling and bring it home to plant in your yard. All materials provided.

 DLC will hold a Rewilding Fisher Farm – A Guided Hike with Andy Kane on March 26 from 2-4 pm. Participants will learn about, and contribute to, a re-wilding vision for Fisher Farm  While slow hiking the park, participants will learn about the value of ecosystem diversity and native plants, and the restorative power of nature – principles that work in nearly any landscape, including yards. For North Carolina, Arbor Day always falls on the Friday following the 15th of March. In 2022, that day will be March 18.
