Davidson Community Players: Performances start June 10

May 21. After more than a year of being virtually shut down due to the pandemic, Davidson Community Players is back IRL. Over the next two months DCP will produce Della and Nora Ephron’s “Love, Loss and What I Wore,” the Tony Award-winning musical “The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” and the comedy “The 39 Steps” based on Alfred Hitchcock’s film of the same name.

“Love, Loss and What I Wore” features seven women sharing an intimate collection of stories using clothing and accessories and the memories they trigger to tell funny and often poignant stories about life. Directed by Sylvia Schnople, the production runs is offered one weekend only, June 10-13.

“The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee” features great music and comedy as an eclectic group of six tweens vie to win the local spelling championship, while candidly disclosing hilarious and touching stories from their home life, The musical runs
June 24-July 3.

“The 39 Steps” is packed with nonstop laughs and over 150 eccentric characters played by four actors. The play is about a man with an ordinary life who meets a woman with a strong accent who says she is a spy. Stuart Jonap directs the show which runs July 15- 25.

All performances are indoors at the Armour Street Theatre in Davidson. Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for seniors and $15 for students. Tickets can be purchased at DavidsonCommunityPlayers.org or by calling the box office at 704-892-7953.
