By Dave Vieser — A community meeting and open house to discuss the updated Cornelius Downtown Master Plan is scheduled for the end of this month at Town Hall.

The open house will use a drop-in format and will be held from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, April 29, and 5:30-7 p.m. Thursday, April 30.

Residents may attend at any time to review and provide feedback on the updated draft plan. Updates focus primarily on the transportation and implementation sections, outlining the plan’s scope and adjusting recommendations to reflect recent neighborhood feedback. Materials will be displayed at stations throughout the room, and town staff will be available to answer questions and receive input.

About the plan

The 2050 Downtown Cornelius Master Plan outlines a 25-year conceptual vision for the Old Town area, including recommendations for land use, development, transportation improvements, branding and historic preservation.

The plan remains in draft form. Adoption is anticipated later in 2026 following public comment and further review by the Board of Commissioners.

The full updated draft is available at www.cornelius.org/downtown.
