COVID update Oct. 4

Oct. 4. Statewide COVID-related hospitalizations remain under 3,000 for the third reporting day in a row. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services, which doesn’t report COVID data on Saturdays and Sundays, said there were 2,606 people hospitalized with the coronavirus, down from 2,882 on Friday.

Today’s total is down 31 percent from Sept. 4, when there were 3,779 people hospitalized.

The NDHHS today reported 2,219 new cases statewide.

Testing

The statewide positivity rate was 8.4 percent.

Deaths

There were 114 new deaths statewide between Friday’s report and today’s.

Mecklenburg

In Mecklenburg County, there were 926 new cases from Friday’s report, with one new death.

North Mecklenburg (change from Friday)

Cornelius: 24 new cases, 3,894 cumulative total, 29 deaths cumulative total.

Davidson: 13 new cases, 2,235 cumulative total, 17 deaths cumulative total.

Huntersville: 64 new cases, 8,460 cumulative total, 67 deaths cumulative total.
