COVID update: NC, Meck positivity rates up again

Nov. 29. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services today reported 1,755 new cases of the coronavirus today, as positivity rates climbed again statewide and locally. There were 26 new COVID deaths statewide, including one in Cornelius.

The NCDHHS at noon today reported the statewide positivity rate at 9.4 percent, up from 5 percent on Nov. 1. Mecklenburg County’s 14-day positive average is at 6.7 percent and trending upward.

Hospitalizations

Statewide hospitalizations rose from 1,077 yesterday to 1,131 today.

Mecklenburg

The NCDHHS today also reported 213 new COVID cases county-wide and five new deaths, including the one in Cornelius.

North Mecklenburg (change from Monday Nov. 29)

• Cornelius: 2 new cases, 4,137 cumulative total, 32 deaths cumulative total.

• Davidson: 3 new cases, 2,416 cumulative total, 19 deaths cumulative total.

• Huntersville: 8 new cases, 9,112 cumulative total, 74 deaths cumulative total.

Until today’s NCDHHS report, there had been no new COVID deaths in Cornelius since Oct. 29
