Jan. 4. COVID-related hospitalizations statewide have broken the 3,000 mark, a number that’s still about 20 percent below the delta peak back in early September.
The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services today reported 37 new COVID deaths, but none of them were in Mecklenburg County.
There were 10,276 new cases of the coronavirus reported statewide, and a total of 3,008 hospitalizations.
Positivity rate
The positivity rate statewide rose to 29.7 percent. In Mecklenburg, the 14-day average positivity rate climbed to 20.2 percent.
Mecklenburg
There were 1,817 new cases reported county-wide between Monday and today.
North Mecklenburg (change from Monday)
• Cornelius: 35 new cases, 4,784 cumulative total, 32 deaths cumulative total.
• Davidson: 17 new cases, 2,776 cumulative total, 20 deaths cumulative total.
• Huntersville: 74 new cases, 10,710 cumulative total, 75 deaths cumulative total.
