COVID update: More than 1,000 hospitalized in NC, 10.4% testing positive

July 27. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services today reported 1,031 North Carolinians hospitalized due to the coronavirus, a 180 percent increase in patients compared to June 28.

Positive testing broke through the 10 percent mark. At 10.4 percent statewide, the rate is  more than double the stated goal of 5 percent or less.

According to today’s NCDHHS report, there were 1,603 new cases, up from 1,401 new cases in yesterday’s report.

There were 10 new deaths statewide.

Mecklenburg County

In Mecklenburg County, there were 280 new coronavirus cases and a positive test rate of 8.4 percent. There have been no new COVID-related deaths since July 22.

North Mecklenburg (change from Monday to today)

Cornelius: 2 new cases, 2,980 cumulative; 26 deaths total.

Davidson: 2 new cases, 1,760 cumulative; 15 deaths total.

Huntersville: 16 new cases 6,291 cumulative; 54 deaths total.
