April 1. The NC Dept. of Health & Human Services today reported 2,027 new COVID-19 cases, for a total of 916,159 statewide since the outbreak began a year ago.

Hospitalizations

Statewide, hospitalizations rose to 985, up from 955 hospitalized as of yesterday.

Deaths

There were 24 new deaths yesterday related to COVID-19 statewide, for a total of 12,136 since the outbreak began. In Mecklenburg County, the NCDHHS is reporting a total of 909 deaths, none new since Tuesday.

Testing

The statewide positive test rate was at 4.4 percent in today’s report. Mecklenburg County was at 6 percent, up from less than 5 percent last week.

North Mecklenburg

Cornelius: 13 new cases, 2,690 cumulative; 24 deaths total.

Davidson: 7 new cases, 1,554 cumulative; 15 deaths total.

Huntersville: 20 new cases, 5,477 cumulative; 48 deaths total.
